Best time to visit Rajasthan - Rajputana

Khamma Ghani/ Namaste/ Hello

This blog is dedicated to the people who are planning their trip to the land of Maharajas and Maharanis. So lets get started..

If you are planning to visit the Land of Royalty, One thing I can really assure you of when you are planning to visit the great Rajputana (Rajasthan) is that it will be an experience for a life time. The place is filled with Royal aroma everywhere; the historical monuments will enchant you with the great history of the land of Rajputana (Rajasthan).

Though the people of Rajputana (Rajasthan) are very much acclimatized with the coldest of cold and hottest of hot climate that prevails around the year in the state, people coming to visit the place are highly recommended to plan their journey in specific months of the year.

Here I have categorised the planning of holidays to the place (Rajputana) with different interests and factors:

For the festival Lovers-

If you love festivals and want to experience the vibrant colours of Rajputana (Rajasthana), you must plan your holidays in the period between October and March. Most of the desert festivals are organised in this period which attract people from around the world. The two big Hindu festivals also fall in the same period, “Holi” and “Diwali”.

Though visiting in this period can be chaotic and costly as people from around the world rush to see the beauty of land, so here’s a tip to visit Rajputana (Rajasthan) pre-book everything you can for a smooth and comfortable stay.

For the Honeymooner’s and Nature Lovers –

Monsoons period is the time of the year when the desert land gets alive, you can see greenery everywhere. The monsoon period starts from the month of July and remains till September, though it also rains a bit in January but who wants to feel the rain then it’s too cold at that period of timesmiley

The time is best for Bird watching and exploring the wildlife in the state. Some of the famous reserves and sanctuaries are located in Rajputana (Rajasthan) like the Ranthambore National Park, Khichan Bird Sanctuary, Sariska Tiger Reserve and Keoladeo National Park. The season also beautifies the palaces and forts of Rajputana which them a tourist magnet.

A tip for the season is, do take utmost care while selecting a vehicle for travel, at times the roads in Rajasthan can be a trouble (Thanks to the not so quality construction smiley)

For the Shopper’s-

For the shopping fans like me smiley, the best to visit Rajputana (Rajasthan) time of the year is from mid of September to the Diwali Festival (falls in October or November). The shops are decorated beautifully in the season, to attract people like us smiley, also there are discounts and schemes on almost all products. Locals wait almost a year to buy things for their homes, as it considered auspicious to buy in this period of time.

A tip for the shoppers, don’t buy by entering one shop, do some research in the market so you can find best deals.

For the trekker’s-

If you love trekking on mountains then summers are the best time to visit Rajputana (Rajasthan), cheaper rates and less crowd what else a traveller requires :). Summers in the state fall in between the months of May and July.

Best places to visit in summers are hills of Mount Abu, Udaipur (The city of lakes), Pratapgarh, Kumbhalgarh and Chittorgarh. These places offer breath-taking views and a pleasant weather to enjoy the place.

A tip for the visitors, do drink a lot of water and wear light also do pack something to wear on head to keep it cool smiley.

To conclude, Rajputana (Rajasthan) has a lot for everyone all year around depending on their interest and likings. Do take time to visit the state, “Padharo Mhare Desh”.
